Interest:
Archeozoology/zooarcheology; animal-human-environment relations in prehistoric periods, the Middle Ages and modern times; the history of mammals, birds and fish in Poland, Europe and Egypt; the history of food products of animal origin; the importance of the horse in early medieval Poland. Scientific achievements: author of over 300 publications, including five books; description of fish and fishing history in Poland and Northern Europe in the last 10 thousand years (Aleksander von Humboldt Stiftung scholarship 1999-2000); roles of animal subsistence of early medieval Poland; participant in interdisciplinary and international projects on the history of commercial fishing (COST 2014-2018), European bison, aurochs, red deer; co-investigator in the Ecology of Crusading project (2010-2014) sponsored by the European Research Council; consultant and curator of the exhibition on the history of domestic animals entitled Close but from a distant world, Katowice 2019.
